Community Involvement In Grama Sabha

Grama Sabha is the grass root level democratic institution in each Village Panchayat. It aims to bring transparency and accountability in individuals promoting a collective participation in village administration. A vibrant Grama Sabha is essential for the effective functioning of Village Panchayats by promoting transparency and accountability in administration, enhancing public participation in the planning and implementation of schemes and in the choice of beneficiaries, and paving the way for social audit.

The main goal of Grama Sabha is to facilitate the convergence of rural development programs of the state and central governments at the selected villages through village development plan (VDP) and other processes associated with panchayat governance.

The meetings are conducted by the Panchayat Heads to address the problems in the community, listen to public opinion regarding the problem and involve them in decision making process. It intends to increase the community ownership among the people thus ensuring development and sustainability.
